Q-

What are your go to makeup brands?

A-

I personally rarely wear makeup I’ll wear mascara and fill in my brows but that’s typically it. A great brand that’s I can recommend is 100%Pure which is plant based and fruit pigmented. Most companies offer samples since its hard to match skin tones online or if they don’t you can always email them to see if they could give you a sample before you get a full sized foundation. Always check your beauty and skincare products with the Think Dirty app to make sure they are clean.

I would recommend this brand -Anima Mundi

Q-

Why do I get acne during my period and not much else during the rest of the month?

A-

During menstruation your body’s immune system drops to focus solely on your blood and reproductive system. It’s quite common to notice breakouts during this time because your body stops focusing on “other health concerns”. When the body is focusing on your reproductive cycle and the immune system is also there you can experience more breakouts. For example lets stay you have a sluggish liver when a few days before your period and through your period your body isn’t as focused on heal that organ as it typically is because your body is supporting your reproductive cycle to prepare for a new egg and remove the old egg. This is also why women are commonly sick during menstruation because the immune system is focused again on the reproductive cycle.

Typically a sign of bacteria overgrowth within the body.

Q-

Is there a right way to pop a zit that won’t cause scarring?

A-

The best way to pop a zit is to not touch it… Yet I know having a white head is the most annoying thing to see. What I recommend is using a warm (not hot) and cold cloth and rotating the 2 back and forth until your skin finally pushes it out. By using warm and cold your pores open and close causing your skin to push out the puss.

Q-

Tips for hormonal acne?

A-

Work on nourishing your reproductive system. This can be with herbs or foods. Start adding in more root vegetables that are cooked to help to nourish and ground your reproductive cycle. Make sure you are absorbing what you eat, redness is still a sign of inflammation within the body and if your body isn’t getting the nutrients to the skin your redness will not heal.

Q-

Do you believe soy can cause acne? if so how and why?

A-

I personally don’t recommend soy for anyone. Soy contains phytoestrogens and to me the body absorbs these as estrogen which can eventually lead to hormonal issues in men or women.

Q-

I have never been able to heal my chin acne can you tell me the herbs to reduce this?

A-

Look at what I said about hormonal acne. 2 questions up!

Q-

Sometimes when I pop a pimple instead of becoming more inflamed it heals and goes away why is that?

A-

This is because you were able to remove all the waste within the pimple and your skin was able to heal. This can be the case for some people but if your acne is deeper rooted I wouldn’t do this since it can cause picking and the cycle can turn bad in a hurry.
